The Arbor-Lattice blends well with our Super 6 V-Groove
Solid Patio Covers. Alternate the two types of patio covers to
create from almost total weather protection to filtered protection as needed.
When purchasing there are several items you should pay particular attention
too. Do they have the engineering to acquire a building permit if necessary.
By asking you can be assured that the Arbor-Lattice you are purchasing will
give you the performance you need. We encourage you to view our Gallery to see
what true quality aluminum patio products look like.
Materials Supplied In The
Kit
The thickness for Arbor-Lattice
parts are as follows: The main 3" x 8" beam is an .042" thick.
The rafters are available in three sizes. 2"x 6 1/2" come in a
.024 and .032 thickness. 3"x 8" rafters are .042" thick.
The varied sizes allow for different spans, wind and snow loads. For greater
span lengths and Live Loads we have a steel "C" beam that can slide
into our Regular embossed 3" x 8" header.
The 3" x 8" Aluminum box beam with steel beam insert is used most of
the time with the heavier snow loads or spans. Consult our representative as
to your applicable needs. With a steel beam insert you can use fewer
posts. When you use the steel beams you will need to have concrete footing
regardless if Freestanding or an Attached Arbor-Lattice.
The optional side plates 2"x 6 1/2"come in a .024 ( all quotes
include the side plates unless requested not to include ) . The posts come in
.024,.030, and .040 aluminum and .048 steel. We have the option available for
to you to sleeve the posts to match up colors and style in an .024 aluminum.
Sleeves and side plates are strongly recommended to maintain the style of
Arbor - Lattice.
The Lattice is available in 1-1/2"
x 1-1/2" or
2" x 2" both in a .018 thickness.
The ends of rafters, headers and Lattice come with a color matched caps.
The hex head sheet metal screws used to attach the Lattice have a Neoprene
seal and washer to help keep water from getting inside the Arbor-Lattice tube.
Post Deigns To Meet All Your
Needs
The average awning will have what
is called scroll post. We no longer supply them as they are not designed
to our standards.
We use a minimum of a 3" square .024 thick aluminum post. For snow
prone areas we use a 3" x aluminum colonial post insert. For larger
projections, heavier live loads, and post spacing will require either a
3" x .040 aluminum colonial post or a 3" x .048 steel colonial post.
All freestanding patios arbor-lattice and carports require a minimum of a
3" x .048 steel colonial post which is poured into the concrete footings. This
give the awning structure stability. Steel posts are needed to meet an
engineered system.

Our Versatile Engineering
Designs
There are some companies that are
unaware of the engineering that is required to install an awning correctly.
For those of you who are required to apply for a Building Permit (This will
vary from town to town) we have engineering for 37 states
(approved engineering for climates such as Arizona, Florida, California,
Colorado, New York).
If your state is not among the 37 states you may not need a permit or your
building department usually will accept the engineering from other states due
to the similarities of weather conditions.
